Mozart with the Staatskapelle Weimar

On 11 and 12 January 2026 at 7:30pm, I had the pleasure of performing Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 5 in A major, K.219 with the Staatskapelle Weimar under the baton of Giulio Cilona at the Weimarhalle. Presented as part of the orchestra’s Fifth Symphony Concert, Sinfonische Nebel, the performances placed Mozart’s “Turkish” violin concerto within a wonderfully atmospheric programme alongside works by Franz Schreker and Felix Mendelssohn.

It was a special pleasure to return to Mozart’s Fifth Concerto in this setting, where its elegance, wit and sudden flashes of drama resonated beautifully with the orchestra’s rich sound and the superb acoustic warmth of the Weimarhalle. Performing with one of Germany’s most distinguished orchestras in the cultural city of Weimar made these two evenings especially memorable.
