Mozart Sinfonia Concertante with Rysanov, Petrenko and RPO

On 1st September 2022 Lana performed Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante with Maxim Rysanov and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under Vasily Petrenko at the Festival Ljubljana. The concert took place in Ljubljana’s Cankarjev dom.

Mozart, and some of his sublime lightness, is immediately recognised by the long orchestral introduction which facilitates the intervention of the two soloists who seemed to be in perfect artistic harmony and complementary in their executive style: passionate, spontaneous and instinctive Lana Trotovšek; controlled, almost relentless and meditative Maksim Risanov. Characteristics that, if we think about it, also belong to the instruments: the exuberance of the violin, the warmth of the viola, in a game of references and dialogues characterised by often extreme virtuosity but also wide-ranging lyrical folds, as in the intense central Andante which then opens the door to the bubbly frivolity of the final Rondò.
Audience in raptures, asked for and obtained an encore – variations on Handel’s Sarabande – from the two soloists.
