Exploring Eduard Napravnik
Pianist Ludmil Angelov and I have recently started to explore works for violin and piano by Eduard Napravnik (1839-1916), nowadays a forgotten composer, but in his lifetime celebrated also as a conductor of the Mariinsky Theatre where he premiered works by Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky and Rimsky-Korsakov. We performed Napravnik’s works at the Varna Summer International Music Festival in June, as well as at the Piano Extravaganza Festival in Sofia in September. The recording was recently completed and is expected to be released in 2018.
